Dishing It...Summer Reading

Amanda at Serenity Now is hosting another Dishing It party!  I love Amanda's parties, they are the best!  This months theme is your Summer Reading List!

Photobucket

Reading is one of my favorite things to do.  Before I had the girls I would start reading a new book on Friday night and would not put it down until it was finished.  My husband used to make fun of me all the time because I was glued to the couch for hours on end!

I love getting lost in a book, forgetting about my life and living vicariously through the characters in the book.  The last book I read was right after I had Kielyn (that's over 3 years ago).  Boo!

Wait a minute, what was I thinking, I have read about a million books since I had Kielyn, just not my books.  The Hungry Caterpillar, My Pretty Pink Purse, Hop on Pop, Guess How Much I Love You...and the list goes on and on.  There is nothing better than reading to the girls!  They are old enough that they are pointing things out, and starting to read to me!  So on to a few of Amanda's questions!
~Give us your list of top 5 picks for summer reading.
Ummm, blogs!  Seriously I'm addicted!

~What are your favorite magazines?
Love Cosmo, totally gives me my smut fix!

~How do you make time to escape into a good book?
I don't anymore.  If I can't sit down and finish a book within a week I won't even start reading.  I have always been this way, it wasn't caused by the girls.

~What's your favorite place to get your books?
I love the library, you can't get any better than free!  I also like to borrow, I just forget to return for months sometimes!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

P.S.  The $25 Target Gift Card giveaway ends tonight!  Did you enter yet?  If not click here!

  3. I remember those days when my kids were little and I couldn't find time to read books. Now that they're a little bit older I'm making up for lost time!

  4. I know...we read so much to my little boy sometimes I think he can read b/c he has the books memorized!!! My daughter isn't old enought to sit still while we read to her. I am bad, I stay up way later than I should trying to read my books. I pay for it the next day when the kids wake up at the butt crack of dawn!!! Thanks for sharing!
I am visiting from Serentiy Now!

  5. I remember when my kids were young. I don't remember reading books other then kiddie books. I was probably to tired to read. I am so happy to have some time now to read.

  6. Oh how I envy you girls that can get lost in a book! I'll stick to my magazines. Wow, Cosmo - haven't read that in a while - too funny!

  7. I listen to Cosmo radio on Sirius to get my daily smut. If someone leaves one at the gym, I'll read it there. (True confessions here!)

  9. I can relate to not making time to read; for years I read nothing but magazines, because I just didn't have the time or mental bandwidth to get into a long book.

LOL about Cosmo. I used to read it, and these days I blush just reading the cover in the supermarket checkout lane.

  11. Hmmm...I didn't read for a couple of years there, but I am back at it now! I'm telling you, change it to the 7 o clock dance of joy, and you'll be set!! :) (although our 7 oclock dance of joy is getting a lot closer to 9 these days...darned summer...)

  13. I think you hit the nail on the head here--we're all reading BLOGS these days, aren't we?

I still love to hold a book in my hands, though. Good old-fashioned page-turning is hard to beat. We all just need more hours in the day!

  14. I'm with ya on the "smut fix" but quit getting Cosmo when my Hubby's grandmother visited and commented on something she read in there - she's 84! So funny! I do love my Glamour though.

I'm addicted to blog reading too!

  15. I’m not a mommy but I can only imagine that’s hard to find the time read when you are one....especially a working mom! I’m sure that your little ones love that your new reading material is genre that they enjoy listening to.

I LOVE reading blogs too. I grab a cup of joe and go to town. Most people catch up on politics and news but I catch-up in blogs. Hummm that’s probably not a good thing!

  16. Count me in for blogaholic. When one of the Harry Potter books came out my boys were still young. I had to warn my husband that once I started it I would not be putting it down until it was finished. He didn't realize that I meant it literally.

  18. LOVE Cosmo!! But then again I love all fashion magazines.... ;) I have such fond memories of being read to as a little kid and can't wait to start reading to my little niece once she's born! I'll have to remember the children's titles you mentioned for her! :)

  20. I know what you mean about reading all the blogs. Sometimes I sit down and think I'll just look at one or two and the next thing I know an hour has passed. With the kids home for summer I have definitely been reading less blogs...and have been posting on my own much less too.
Thanks for stopping by earlier :)

  21. I hear you regarding books. It seems like I have no time to sit and finish a book. Thats where blogs and magazines come in ~ little snippets here and there!

    Have a great weekend!
