When It's Acceptable to Pick your Nose

When is it acceptable to pick your nose?  Never.....unless you are almost 2.

Here is the scene from 2 hours ago.
Taylor picking nose...
Me:  "Tay, why are you picking your nose?"
Taylor:  "Rock."
Me:  "You mean boogies?"
Taylor: "No, rock."

Normally I would have laughed at her, but since it's Taylor I decided to take a peek.

Um, are you kidding me?!?!

20 minutes later.....

Me:  "Tay, why are you picking your nose again?"
Taylor:  "Rock Mommy."
Me:  "Taylor Lynn are you serious?!?!"

This is what was shoved up her nose!  Not one, but two rocks!

Mechanical Pencil eraser to show how big the rocks were!!!!

Want to know how to get foreign objects out of your kids nose without having to take them to the Doctor or ER, and the only reason I know this is because my cousin's daughter shoved a BB up her nose and when he took her to the Dr. they showed him how to fix the problem!

1. Lay kiddo on the floor.
2.  Make kiddo open their mouth.
3.  Close the side of their nose that isn't filled with foreign object, i.e. rocks
4.  Cover their mouth with yours and blow!!
5.  Foreign object should be dislodged, if not repeat above steps.

I checked her nose with the ear-looker and it was clear!  Hopefully she learned her lesson!

Happy 9 o'clock Dance of Joy!!!

  2. I know how it is!!!! My son put this little foam circle toy thingy up his nose. It cost me $450 to find out I could get it out myself!

  3. Only when you're almost two would you decide to stick the second rock up after the first one MUST have been uncomfortable! Curiosity makes me ask--were they in the same nostril or was she an equal opportunity stuffer?

  4. Holy cow!!!! Scary!!! (but hilar now that I know she is okay!!)

My Luci is 2 and this has yet to happen...but I shoved a fruit snack up my nose when I was 3 years old and my dad had to take me to the er. Can we say tra-ma-tizing!!??

Glad you were able to do it on your own! Thanks for the tips too LOL!

  6. Wowzers! Am I correct in thinking that Taylor has a liking for all objects large -- the drink, the rocks in small places? Wowzers, is all I can say. Kudos to you for remaining calm and carrying on!

  8. I wish I had known how to do that when my oldest had a bead up her nose (several years back).

  9. Wow, I did not know you could do that. Too bad I didn't have that information when my son was 3(now 16). Made two trips to ENT to retrieve "hocks" he had stuck WAY up his nose.

Hopefully Taylor won't do that again.

  10. Laughing hysterically. My friend's 4 YEAR OLD had to go to the ER recently b/c she stuck a crayon up her nose and nothing would work!

  11. Good to know!! I got pony beads for the girls to play with while I make jewelry...and of course, one has made it into the nostrils...luckily nothing has been stuck yet!! :) But now I know what to do!

  12. When I was that age, I did the same thing...I told my mom "booga-hurt" over & over again, finally she figured out it wasn't just boogers bothering me. Dad pulled the rocks out of my nose with needle nose pliers...she likes to tell that story to embarrass me. I'm glad I'm not alone in finding entertainment in shoving rocks up my nose! :)
