I have been a blog slacker this month!  I can't believe it's already September 26!  Where did the month go?!?!

Painted pumpkins and apothecary jars.
Mini monogram pumpkins and some of my favorite candlesticks!
Halloween Ribbon Wreath

The rest of my favorite candlesticks, $3 Better Homes & Garden charger from WalMart

My festive little shelves!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

My Very Own Window

I am so excited that my old window is finally hanging on the wall!

I apologize in advance, the one day I finally remember to take pictures during the day instead of at night and it's cloud, overcast and cold.  :(

I am kind of infatuated with it!  I didn't do a whole lot to it, I sanded it down and painted it with white craft paint, sanded some more and then  wiped it down with some black stain that I had in the garage!

And the best part is that I now how more room to decorate because the disgusting fish tank is gone!  Here is a before.  Blah!
Goodbye fish tank, hello window!  Now I have an excuse to go to Hobby Lobby and buy more stuff to decorate with!  I found an old trunk at the thrift store yesterday, I'm not sure where I am going to put it yet.

It's old and beat up, but all of the leather handles are attached, the two buckles work and even the 2 leather straps inside are still there!  I think the main reason I really liked this one was the tag!

The Denver Union Terminal Railway Company
I'm not sure how old it is, but it looks old and I liked it!  And I couldn't beat the price, it was only $10!

Painted Pumpkins

After seeing all of the fall decorating going on in blogland I got the bug and got some of my stuff out.  Today I wanted to show you the pumpkins that I painted last year.  I love them!

I bought these pumpkins at WalMart last year.  I think they are the $5 Better Homes and Garden pumpkins.  I used craft paint to paint them.  I used antique white, black and copper.  I free handed the black leaves on the white pumpkin.

I love polka dots!

I even made monogrammed pumpkins for the kids before I even knew monograms were cool!

Dining Room sideboard and shelves....Taylor really wanted to help!
Close up of my apothecary jars, look they are all filled!  I found the white tennis table balls at the Dollar Store and plan to make some knock off PB numbered balls.
There are so many cute ideas floating around that I can't wait to borrow copy them!  I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

A Splurge and a Giveaway!

***This Giveaway is Closed***

At the beginning of the month my husband gave me $100 cash for our anniversary and last night I got to go shopping!  Yay for me!!  I went to Target and found nothing, KMart....nothing but I did find a few things at Hobby Lobby and Joanns!

I have been looking for some metal pieces for the living room and dining room and finally found something that I like.  I apologize in advance for the bad pictures, I took them in the garage because I was too lazy to bring anything in.
I can't wait to get motivated and find them a home!

And now for the splurge, I have had my eye on this amazing wreath at Joann's for a while now, but I choked every time I thought about spending $40 on a wreath, come on!  But yesterday when I went in it was 40% off, only $25!!  And because this was "gift money" and not household money I didn't feel guilty at all....ok, I might have picked it up, put it back, picked it up, put it back like 3 times but it finally came home with me!
An amazing black feather wreath!  How cute is this going to be for Halloween?!?!  I love it!  And now for the Giveaway!!!

I finally reached 300 followers and am completely, totally excited!  I might have even texted my husband to tell him.  He called me a dork!  So to show my appreciation to all of my followers I am going to giveaway a custom Monogrammed frame!

Chalkboard Wall is Complete!

I am happy to report that the chalkboard has already been used!  I came home from work to see this!

A little love note!
Last night I decided my chalkboard was lonely and needed a friend.  I dug around in the garage and found a piece of aluminum that was the perfect size.  I cut {blessed} with my Cricut out of vinyl, punched some holes in the metal and hung it up using ribbon.

Bad picture...metal is so picky!  Just a little reminder of how truly blessed we are every day!
We constantly fight about who loves who more...I won this round!

I think it is finished, unless you guys have some amazing idea!  I hope everyone had a great Monday!  I spent most of the day in the ceilings of our new prison, it was miserably hot!  And then I got caught in the biggest thunderstorm of the year, got soaked and then froze!  We are headed out to watch Ben play softball, have a great night!

I Finally Joined the Cool Kids Club!

I finally joined the cool kids club!  What club am I talking about?  I finally made my own chalkboard!  I am so excited!  Up until this afternoon I was the geek hanging out in the corner by myself!

Here it is!  Love it!!

I started with this nasty mirror that I found at a garage sale for $2.
I am trying to get away from painting everything in my house black so I settled for green.

It ended up being way too green for my liking so I used black craft paint to glaze it.
When I asked my husband what he thought he said it looked dirty and old...mission accomplished!

I used chalkboard spray paint and followed the directions completely, kind of.  I sprayed the mirror with 3 coats of paint and let it dry for 20 hours, not the recommended 24 hours.  I couldn't find any chalk in the house, how can you have a chalkboard with no chalk?!?!  So I settled on using sidewalk chalk to break-in the chalkboard according to the directions.

Maybe not the best idea...see all the little scratches?  They aren't very noticeable and I was too excited to redo it and wait another 24 hours!
I put the mirror back in the frame and used hot glue to secure it.

I can't wait to use it!  I think I will write down important reminders or list the menu for the night!  I need to add a few more things on the wall to spruce it up, but this wall is on its way to being done!

It's A Start

6 months ago we had the living room, dining room and kitchen painted.  I never hung anything back up on the walls.  Why?  I have a weird thing about nail holes.  I am always worried that I will hang something up, not like where it is and have to fix the hole that I made.

Crazy?  I know!
Well tonight I started hanging things!  And you know what?  I don't think I'm in love with the placement of what I hung up :(

I started with this, cute but I wasn't thrilled.

These were all fantastic finds!  The black frame was an ugly gold thing I got at a garage sale for $1, the turquoise frame was a hideous maroon monster that I found at the Dollar Tree and the silver guy used to be ugly brown, I found it at GoodWill for $3.  Thank goodness for spray paint!  After I hung everything up it seemed a little blah, so I got out my Cricut!

Upgrade!  Doesn't it look happier?
Spray painted silver and glazed with black craft paint.
I painted this with Krylon Bahama Sea and then glazed it with Ralph Lauren smoke glaze mixed with a little black craft paint.  I added white burlap behind the glass and cut the vinyl using the Storybook Cartridge.

I love the way this monogram turned out!  I had seen this fabric at Hobby Lobby but was to cheap to buy it full price or even with a coupon, but I found a remnant for $2 and couldn't say no!  I used the Storybook and Calligraphy Cartridge for this one.

What do you guys think?  Does it need to be rearranged or should I leave it alone?  I am a tweaker I can't help myself, but I will practice self control for the night...I think!

Don't forget to enter the $50 CSN giveaway, it ends tomorrow!

Happy 9 o'clock Dance of Joy!
