I was Featured!

I know this might be the most retarded thing to be so excited about, but my Scrap Trim Project was featured at Tatertots and Jello's Weekend Wrap Up Party!!!  Yay for me!  I am so glad that I went through and thouroghly blog-stalked today because we were gone over the weekend and I didn't participate in any parties last week because I have a million projects going on and haven't had time to post anything that is completely finished yet!  So happy Monday to me!

Dollar Spot @ Target & Dollar Tree

I get so excited every time I think about the Dollar Spot at Target and the Dollar Tree!  It's like there is some little treasure waiting to be found, waiting to be beautified!  The issue that I have with these 2 places is my obsessive compulsive desire to buy in multiples, especially Target because we don't have one in town, the nearest one is 40 minutes away.  Every time I find something that I love, even if I don't know what I can/will do with I have to buy them.  Notice the word them?  I can't just buy 1, I have to buy 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6!

A couple of days ago I went to Target and stocked up!
6 pots, 4 metal planter things and stamps.....$12!  And actually I did practice some self control, I had put 5 little green tea light lantern things in my basket.  We walked around the store and looked at everything and as we got closer to the check out I decided I did not have to have the lanterns I actually argued with myself, because it was only $5, which isn't a lot of money but I did not have to have them.

So from now on I am going to practice some self control.  Did I really need 6 planters?  No, but the thought of finding something to do with them later and then going back and not being able to find them?!?!  I won't die, seriously Kenzie!!

And I had to share this picture, Tay is my little naked baby!  She loves to take her diaper off at nap time and bed time and pee on everything.  We originally used silver duck tape so she couldn't get her diaper off, but look what Grammie gave her for Easter!  Pink Duck Tape!  What little girl wouldn't love this?  We are off to Denver tomorrow for our weekend get away, so I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

ps.  To my husband, I dislike you at the moment (we went on an innocent walk at the River Walk and ended up running) and I don't run, I haven't worked out since Thanksgiving.  So needless to say I am sore :(

I Got A Job!

I got a job!!!  Well technically I already have a job, so I got  new job!  I was just hired to make place cards for a wedding!  I am so excited, I have 180 cards to make by the 20th.  The good news is that I have already cut 200 place cards (just in case of accidentals) and embossed 200 place cards.

Did you know that I can emboss approximately 4 cards per minute with my Cuttlebug?  Well neither did I until tonight, yes that means that it took me 50 minutes to emboss.  Not only is my arm tired from cranking the dumb handle but I have a blister on my thumb because of the way I was holding the dumb handle.

Anyway, I am really excited about this whole venture and I owe it all to my mom!  Back in February when I was making my Valentine's Day Cards, I texted my mom a picture of the cards not that I still need my Mom's approval, wait a minute, yes I do, she is my crafting voice of reason.  Anyway, she was showing some of the girls that she works with what I had been doing and my new friend Jen liked the cards enough to have me make the place cards for her wedding!!!  Thanks Mom!!!  And they are so cute, her colors are black, ivory, silver and purple.  So we are doing a black embossed card stock with an ivory name tag and black ribbon and then adding crystals randomly for a little sparkle.  Now all I have left to do, is cut 200 tents, yes I have to make the tents separately because the stupid embossing folder opens the wrong way so you can't emboss and tent at the same time, so annoying.  Cut 200 name tags, thank goodness for my cricket, print 180 names cut and attach to the tags, add ribbon and name tags and a bazillion gems to the place cards and I will be done.

OK in my head I was thinking I didn't have that much left to do and after writing it down I am kind of freaking out!  We are going out of town this weekend for a date night/watching Sister run her 1st half marathon/family lunch and who knows what else kind of weekend.  I have a lot of work ahead of me next week!

Redwood + Semi-Transparent Stain = FAIL!

Never try to stain redwood with black semi-transparent stain.....It does nothing!  I just wasted an hour staining the picnic table I made for the girls with some leftover stain I had from another project.  It was a huge failure, you can't even tell that I put 3, yes that's right, 3 coats of stain on.  FAIL!!!!!

I guess I will head to Sherwin Williams for some stain tomorrow, something that will actually look like I applied some color!  I really want to get the picnic table stained so I can play with my vinyl...I can't wait!

Birthday!

So today will be my last celebrated birthday, except for the presents of course, I will rename the day and call it something else....

Anyway I am very excited about my presents that I got today i sound more like 9 than 29!  My husband and gramma gave me money, who could ask for a better present?!  I love money!  And my mom got me these...

Yes you are correct, those are the apothecary jars from Ballards!  I am in love, they are so pretty and perfect!  I can't wait to fill these up with all sorts of treasures!  And that is the picture from the internet, I'm too tired to get up and take a picture of them!  My mom also got me a ton of vinyl, every color I asked for and then some.  I am really excited to do something with it, I am thinking that after I stain the picnic table for the girls I will add their names to the benches, one side for each!

And for whatever reason I am completely exhausted, even too tired to craft, so I am going to go to bed!  Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

Picnic, Picnic, Who Loves a Picnic?

My girls love picnics!  Tuesday night the weather was perfect and by perfect I mean 70 degrees perfect.  The girls were out playing in the back yard and I was grilling steaks.  Kielyn asked me if we could eat outside and I told her that we could.  So I hauled the booster chairs out of the dining room (kind of a pain because they are strapped down and mostly because I am lazy) and set them up at the table.  They still had a hard time eating because the patio chairs are so deep and they can't quite reach the table.  So I decided that they needed their own table.  So I went out in search for plans for a picnic table online.  And that's when I met Ana, my new bff!  Have you been to Knock Off Wood?  Her site is amazing!  She has plans for everything that you have ever drooled over in the expensive catalogs and can't afford (and the reason I don't mention store names is because recently she received a letter from the lawyers of the big store for infringement reasons).   Anyway go check her out, her site is amazing!

So Furlough Friday Craft Day went off without a hitch!  I was complaining last because the weather was supposed to be bad today and I called my uncle this morning to borrow a couple of tools and he offered to let me use his shop.  So this is what I worked in today!

Can you say love?  Everything you could ever want or need is in his shop.  Table saw, Miter saw, Jointer, Router Table, sanders, drills, bits and so much more.  I ♥ his shop!  So bright and early I headed to Ace to pick up my wood.  I decided to use redwood, it's a little more expensive but less splintery and with my amazing instructions I got started.  First I cut my wood according to Ana, did I mention how much I love her?!?!
Following the instructions I carefully put it together, here are the action shots(kind of, I was by myself and someone had to take the pictures)...insert Tim the Tool Man grunt here!
Table top assembled.
Table top supports.
Leg assembly, I now love clamps!
Look, they stayed on!
4 legs!  After this step I did set the table on the ground to check for wobble and levelness and my table didn't wobble.  Yay for me!!
Bench supports going in, the men in my family would be so proud of me, not only did I make the board was level on the side I was working on but I also checked to make sure that it was level to the other support, don't want the kiddos sliding off.
Good to go!
Checking for wobble again.
Seat boards screwed on and I am finished (except the staining part)!!  I can't wait to go pick the girls up so they can see!  I think we are going to attempt dying Easter eggs tonight.  In case we don't survive have a wonderful weekend and a very happy Easter!

Furlough Friday :(

So as an amazing government employee they are rewarding me with another furlough day tomorrow and by another I think this will be number 7 or 8ish.  Yep you heard it right, unpaid day off work....poor me, but I am kind of used to it and when we are done with furlough days it will be like getting a raise!  And I have to pay for day care regardless of if the girls are there or not soooo I have day all to myself!  And I have a project all lined out for tomorrow!  It's an outdoor craft and it's supposed to rain so I will probably be stuck in the garage freezing, but it will be worth it.

So I am going to call it an early night because I was up til 1:30 last night making sample place cards for someone my Mom works with. I should post pictures but I am too lazy to get up and get the camera and download pictures, plus Grey's Anatomy is on and I can't miss a second.  It has taken me 30 minutes to write this because I keep having to wait for commercial breaks.  I will be back tomorrow with my Furlough Friday Craft!!
