Harley Inspired

I am finished with my latest project!  It was miserable and I hated it 50% of the time that I was making it but I think it turned out awesome!

Harley Davidson inspired invitations!  My good friend is throwing a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend!  When she asked me if I would make the invitations I was hesitant to say yes because I usually don't do "boy" stuff let alone "man" stuff.  Fortunately for me he happens to be a biker and happens to ride a Harley!  So in true Harley style I used black, white, orange and grey.  The skull was easy, it looks tough and bikerish but it wasn't enough.  So I added metal mesh and hand-made barbwire.

The barbwire was the worst idea ever, but completely genius!  My fingers hurt so bad from wrapping wire.  But I think it adds the right touch of "man bling" to the invite!

I used the Indie Art cartridge from Cricut for the skull.  The skulls were also a huge pain in the you know what!  I inked the skulls and the crossbones.  The crossbones were not attached to the skull so I had to glue them all on...Boo!

Thank goodness for my spray adhesive!  Have I ever told you how much I love that stuff?  Oh yeah, I did here.  It is strong enough to adhere the metal mesh to the card, love, love, love it!

This project was a success, thank goodness....not that I was worried or anything!

What to do?

It's Saturday!  I am so excited this week was crazy!  Work was crazy busy and I am very proud of myself because I didn't poke anyone in the eye with a fork I think I might have anger issues!

And I am a single Mom again for 4 weeks this time, yikes!  Ben will be gone for 21 days for the Army Reserves, comes home for 1 night and then leaves for another week for the SORT team.

*If you are some sort of weird stalker reading this and you have an idea to come to my house and rob me just know it's not a good idea and be ready to meet my 2 BFF's Sally the Shotgun and Allie the AR-15.  Just saying, I am an amazing shot!*

I am almost ready to show you what I have been working on!  It's almost finished!  Yay!  And then I need to find some things to work on.  I really need to pay attention to my living room, it's SAD!  I really need to get something hung on the walls.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Dishing It...Summer Reading

Amanda at Serenity Now is hosting another Dishing It party!  I love Amanda's parties, they are the best!  This months theme is your Summer Reading List!

Photobucket

Reading is one of my favorite things to do.  Before I had the girls I would start reading a new book on Friday night and would not put it down until it was finished.  My husband used to make fun of me all the time because I was glued to the couch for hours on end!

I love getting lost in a book, forgetting about my life and living vicariously through the characters in the book.  The last book I read was right after I had Kielyn (that's over 3 years ago).  Boo!

Wait a minute, what was I thinking, I have read about a million books since I had Kielyn, just not my books.  The Hungry Caterpillar, My Pretty Pink Purse, Hop on Pop, Guess How Much I Love You...and the list goes on and on.  There is nothing better than reading to the girls!  They are old enough that they are pointing things out, and starting to read to me!  So on to a few of Amanda's questions!
~Give us your list of top 5 picks for summer reading.
Ummm, blogs!  Seriously I'm addicted!

~What are your favorite magazines?
Love Cosmo, totally gives me my smut fix!

~How do you make time to escape into a good book?
I don't anymore.  If I can't sit down and finish a book within a week I won't even start reading.  I have always been this way, it wasn't caused by the girls.

~What's your favorite place to get your books?
I love the library, you can't get any better than free!  I also like to borrow, I just forget to return for months sometimes!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

P.S.  The $25 Target Gift Card giveaway ends tonight!  Did you enter yet?  If not click here!

Can't you buy that?

I started a new project tonight!  I can't show you what it is yet but I can give you a little preview!

Anyone want to take a guess on what it is?  And yes you can buy it in the store and it probably would have been so much easier if I had!

Wire mesh....well technically the guys at Ace called it something something construction something, but it's wire and it looks like mesh to me so that's what I'm going with.

It's gonna be cool when I am done.  I will give you a hint, I got another order!

I'm Back

I'm back!  We had a wonderful weekend (if you forget about the 2 hour drive one way where my kids forgot how tired they were and decided to laugh/fight/whine/cry the entire car ride only to fall asleep 10 minutes before we got to the zoo and never fell asleep on the way home, and my husband wasn't with us he had to ride his bike cause he's cool like that).

So my wonderfully grouchy kids are headed to bed early.  We left early Saturday morning and met my Mom at the zoo.  The girls were so excited!

OK, so maybe it doesn't look like it but they were!
There must have been something amazing to our right, seriously we can't take a good picture!

The giraffes were the hit of the zoo, the girls loved them!

Two of my favorite people, my Mom and hubby!
Lover her polka dot glasses!

Hopefully Kie forgets about the bear before bed time, she has been scared of bears for a long time.  Isn't he adorable?

Black rhino, the girls loved his nose!  They said it was pokey!

My sweet baby, she is almost 2 and growing up way too fast, not very many days of chubby arms left :(
Love this picture!

This ape was laying right in front of the glass taking a snooze!  He was huge!

Last night Ben and I went to the fights, we had a blast.  Our boys were 4 for 4!  Great group of young fighters, excited to watch them grow up!  We swam this morning and went to Aunt Rossi's for lunch.  We had a great weekend.  I hope everyone else did too!  It is now time for the 9 o'clock Dance of Joy!  Have a great night!
