Dishing It...Summer Reading

Amanda at Serenity Now is hosting another Dishing It party!  I love Amanda's parties, they are the best!  This months theme is your Summer Reading List!

Photobucket

Reading is one of my favorite things to do.  Before I had the girls I would start reading a new book on Friday night and would not put it down until it was finished.  My husband used to make fun of me all the time because I was glued to the couch for hours on end!

I love getting lost in a book, forgetting about my life and living vicariously through the characters in the book.  The last book I read was right after I had Kielyn (that's over 3 years ago).  Boo!

Wait a minute, what was I thinking, I have read about a million books since I had Kielyn, just not my books.  The Hungry Caterpillar, My Pretty Pink Purse, Hop on Pop, Guess How Much I Love You...and the list goes on and on.  There is nothing better than reading to the girls!  They are old enough that they are pointing things out, and starting to read to me!  So on to a few of Amanda's questions!
~Give us your list of top 5 picks for summer reading.
Ummm, blogs!  Seriously I'm addicted!

~What are your favorite magazines?
Love Cosmo, totally gives me my smut fix!

~How do you make time to escape into a good book?
I don't anymore.  If I can't sit down and finish a book within a week I won't even start reading.  I have always been this way, it wasn't caused by the girls.

~What's your favorite place to get your books?
I love the library, you can't get any better than free!  I also like to borrow, I just forget to return for months sometimes!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

P.S.  The $25 Target Gift Card giveaway ends tonight!  Did you enter yet?  If not click here!

Dishing It! Father's Day

Amanda at Serenity Now  is hosting another Dishing It! Party!  Amanda's parties are so much fun, it's so much fun to get to know our fellow bloggers a little bit better!

The theme of this party is Dad's, after all Father's Day is right around the corner!!

This is my Dad with Kielyn when she was 1 day old!

~What's the best thing about your dad?
There are so many wonderful things about my Dad it's hard to pick a place to start!  My Dad made huge sacrifices for our family, he worked 2 jobs so my Mom could stay home with us (Thanks Dad)!  He is an amazing man who will drop everything to come help me whenever I need it.  He is generous with his time and is an amazing construction/landscaping/fence building/car fixing/in a pinch baby-sitter kind of guy.

When we built our house 5 years ago, my Dad was in a serious motorcycle accident, he was flight-for-lifed to the nearest hospital.  He had broken his leg and the bone had come through the skin, so they fixed him up with a suitcase handle looking appliance that stuck out of his leg (sorry for the images)!  During this time I spent a lot of time with my Dad, taking care of him and taking him to Dr.'s appointments.  I am very thankful for the accident, I'm not glad that he was injured, but I am glad that as a result we spent a lot of time together and grew closer.

And before I got pregnant and had babies and while my Dad was recuperating from his motorcycle wreck, he let me use his Harley!  Yes, I used to be a biker chic and rode my own bike!

~What's something you enjoyed doing with your dad when you were a child?
My Dad built fences as his second job....basically whenever he wasn't at the power plant he was building fence.  I used to love going with him to bid jobs, he let me help hold the tape measure!  During summer vacation he would let us work for him building fence, basically what that meant was we went to the job with him tried to help, got hot, got bored and wanted to go home, but he he let us keep coming back

He used to let me "shift" the truck into gear when we were out and about(he also taught me how to drive a standard later on).  He would take my sisters, brother and me fishing and water skiing during the summers.

~My Husband
My poor husband lives in estrogen central!  The only man in the house is the dog and I think the girls and I turned him into a girl too!  He is a sucker for the girls. A couple of weeks ago I headed to WalMart after the girls went to bed at 8:30.  I got a text message from him at 10 asking where I was and I said piddling at WalMart and asked if he needed something.  His response was "hurry up because Kie got out of bed and I told her she could stay up until you got back."  They have him figured out!

Happy Early Father's Day to my Dad and Husband!

Dishing It Party @ Serenity Now

It's time for another Dishing It! Party with Amanda at Serenity Now!

~What's the best thing about your mom?
The best thing about my mom is that she is my mom!  My mom is an amazing woman!!  She sacrificed so much for us when we were little and took the time to make all of us feel special, with notes in our lunch box, home made Halloween costumes and Christmas presents, perfect Birthday parties and finding the perfect prom dresses!  Now she is my voice of reason and my soft place to land!

~If your mom isn't around, do you have a family member or mentor who can stand in for her?
Not really, my Gramma is always there to listen, but she just isn't Mom.  I still want my mom around when I am sick!  No one can replace her.

~What's your relationship with your mom like (do you just tolerate each other, or is she your best confidant)?
She is my best confidant!  She is always there to listen to me whine and give sound advice!

~If there is one quality about your mom that you could emulate, what would it be?
Her love for her children!

~What's the best advice your mom has ever given you?
Don't worry about what others think or if they will be mad.  You are an adult and can make decisions for yourself!  But don't make them based on others opinions.

~Describe the most embarrassing outfit your mom made you wear when you were growing up. (If you have a photo of this, I will give you ten bonus points!)
I don't really remember her making me wear anything that was too horrible.  But looking back now I wish she would have not let me leave the house decked out in my New Kids on the Block gear.......nightmares!

~If you're a mom, what's your favorite thing about motherhood? What's the most difficult?
My favorite thing about being a Mom is everything!  I could go on for hours about how my girls have changed my life and how amazing they are!  To watch them grow from newborns into toddlers has been amazing!  I used to be able to watch them sleep for hours, staring at their perfect little faces!  The first time they found their hands and feet, their first smile first giggle, first everything!  Now I could watch Kie and Tay play together all day long.  There is nothing better than listening to them giggle together and hold hands as they run across the back yard!
The most difficult thing about being a mom if 2 girls is the drama and attitude in our house!  Who knew little girls were such drama queens!  And the 9 o'clock Dance of Joy! has turned into the 10 o'clock if you don't stay in bed I will turn your big girl bed back into a crib!
Happy Mother's Day!!

Dishing It Party @ Serenity Now

I made a new friend today!  Her name is Amanda at Serenity Now.  She is having a party about getting to know our fellow bloggers!  She also has a post on blog etiquette that I am in love with!  So my name is Kenzie and I'm here to introduce my blog and make new friends!

~How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since December of 2008 and what I mean by that is I posted an amazing 5 posts in 2008, 4 posts in 2009 and 29 posts in 2010.  I am now addicted and am an avid blogger.

~Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging to tell stories about my family, my life and it was an easy way to share information with my family.  I fell off the wagon!  I then came across some crafting blogs and was reinspired.  I always have some sort of craft or project going and I thought it would be really neat to be able to share my crafts, projects, and thrift finds with everyone.

~Tell me about your blog's title. Why did you choose it?
9 o'clock Dance of Joy....The 9 o'clock Dance of Joy is what happens when the kids and husband go to bed and I have a little "me" time.  Time to play on the computer, time to craft, time to watch "real" tv (no cartoons), time to myself to reflect on the day without the sticky fingers helping hands of my little girls!  I chose the title because I remember mom telling me about her 9 o'clock Dance of Joy when we were little and never truly understanding the meaning behind it until I had my girls.

~What do you blog about?
Mainly I blog about the craft projects I have going on and my bargain finds that I makeover.  But I do blog about my life and my family as well.

~What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Making new friends!  It is nice to be able to connect with people who share the same interests as me.  I love finding inspiration from other people's creations, reading their stories about their kids and crazy lives and sharing hints, tips and tricks for crafting and being a Mom.

~If you had to choose one famous person to become your blog's next devoted reader, who would you pick?
I have no idea....is that sad?

~What's the funniest comment you've ever received on a blog post?
No hilarious comments that I can recall.  Only nice comments!  :)

Do you want to make some new friends?  Link up to Amanda's party!
