A 40ish Day Journey

**I am not here to offend anyone one or "push" my religion on you, I have decided to share my journey because this is my blog, please feel free to read, feel free not to, feel free to join me if you like!**

As I get older my desire to learn more about my relationship with God has grown.  I have always believed in God, I have had my doubts in him, because I am only human, but my belief in him has always been strong.  My problem?  I am not very educated when it comes to the true purpose of life and what God is really about.  I know that he is always there, always looking after me and has a purpose for my life.  A purpose that I have doubted, cried about, screamed about and wondered why is God doing this to me?

A couple of months ago I was talking with a friend about the purpose of life and she gave me a book and said that it was a must read!  I finally started the book today.  Have you heard of or read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren?  The book is designed to be a 40 day read, because God considers 40 days a spiritually significant time period. I never knew that, like Noah was transformed by 40 days of rain (knew that), Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness and the disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after his resurrection.

So today marked the start of my 40 day journey, which I will say 40ish because I am only human!  After reading Day 1, which is a whopping 4 pages, I have started my journey, my quest to find the purpose of my life, which coincidentally has nothing to do with me at all!
Today's Point to Ponder:  "It's not about me."
Verse to Remember:  "Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him."  Colossians 1:16b

So today I know that I was born by God's purpose and for his purpose, I exist only because God wills me to exist.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday!

Oh my heck Kenzie....I feel the same way! You wouldn't believe what I have been through in life and have wondered the same thing. Apart from losing a child, I've had one of the worst things anyone could possibly have happen.....

I was spiritual before (not a "religious" person) but after I lost both of my parents I had NO choice but to become even more spiritual just so I could handle the situation I was thrown into.

Sounds like a book I might need to look at....Thanks for sharing

Hope all is well :)

You go girl!!
I loved this book. Our small group did it as a group study several years ago!! It is full of wisdom and encouragement. My prayer for you sweet Kenzie is that you find the answers you are looking for and that you will grow closer to our Lord on this Journey. I am committing to pray for you regularly on the journey!
Be blessed!!

Wow...that hit really close to home. I would have to say that as a child and teen, I was very active/involved in my church. Then life happens...and you get busy...and you "forget" certain things that should be important.

This very book is sitting on my bookshelf in the office. I have not read it, but I think you may have inspired me to read it with you. We shall see if I can wipe the dust off and get started on something that has been a long time coming...

Praying for you and your journey, Kenzie. Only good things can happen from being more educated :)

I am so happy that you posted this! I, too, am focusing more and more on God the older I get. I read that book a couple of years ago, and it is wonderful! Somewhere in there I got a little bored with it, but I am so glad I stuck with it and kept working through it. Bless you and your journey!! I can only imagine Jesus dancing in Heaven each time we desire to draw Him near!

Good for you, girl. I have a hard time with people who leave nasty comments on other blogger's religious/Christian posts. So much for "tolerance," right? ;) Great post!! I have that book too, but haven't read it. :s

It's your blog, so you can feel free to push your religion on anyone you want, particularly when making others aware of the One True God will provide eternal life to others. Who could be offended by that?

I've started the Purpose-Driven Life book about 4 times. In fact -- it's still sitting on my bedside table. I never get very far with it. I know others have truly been inspired by the book.

I hope it inspires you.

I am glad you are sharing your journey. I've never done the Purpose Driven Life Study.

It's really amazing to ponder, that the God who spoke absolutely everything into existence, just with his words, spoke each of us into existence too.

It was his will for us to be born. Without him we have and are nothing. But in him we are princesses, daughters of the King. He delights in us. That just blows my mind.

Praying for you on your journey. I know we have that book around here somewhere...I think I need a refresher too. I'll have to find it.

I LOVE the way God works in our lives. I taught you when you were a child and you teach me now that you're a woman. I have seen God's healing powers, felt His strength during my most challenging moments and seen His direction when I was lost. I know that He is leading you on your journey!! I love you!
