Ok, first the amazing part!
Look what I got! A new sewing/embroidery machine! I am really excited! I have spent the last 2 nights playing with it and I haven't even began to check out the embroidery function yet, can't wait!
Now for the pathetic part :(
The only thing I have to show for my 2 nights worth of playing is in bed with my daughter. I tried to make an apron (with no pattern, did I mention I don't sew?) she thought it was a blanket for her doll and I had no idea how to finish it so I gave it to her. Want to see? Um probably not but just in case, ha!
Love the little cherries, they are so cute!
I made pleats or gathers?!?
Playing with decorative stitching and I am getting better at sewing a straight line!
UPDATE...The bug just got out of bed to tell me her baby blanket looked like a bib, she's right, can you say epic fail?
One more, just cause she's so pretty!
So does anyone have any tips or tricks they want to share? Or come give me a lesson (mom are you coming soon?)?
Happy 9 o'clock Dance of Joy!

I don't think it was a fail! I think it's adorable...those cherries and your stitching look great! I'm famous for starting projects and not quite figuring out how to finish them.- Oh, and your harley invitations were so great! I LOVED the barbed wire idea! I'm a rubber stamper, so I adore seeing other people's ideas. Hope you're having a good week so far...
If you hadn't said it was your first attempt, no one would ever know! Your stitches look perfect. You'll get the hang of it...so hang in there!
looks just about right to me. but than again I am not so good at sewing without a pattern either and am just attempting it :P Add some ties to that baby and strap it on ur kiddo!
Im learning to sew too!!! Very exciting to finally have a sewing machine, isnt it? :) I think you are off to a GREAT start! The decorative stitching is too cute and your gathers (I have no clue if that is what theyre called either lol) look very clean. I say add ribbon to the top so she can tie it around her waist. Then maybe it will look like an apron to her :)
oooooh I can't wait to play with you! I love that you're sewing! Important things to know about sewing...you'll end up tearing out seams and spilling pins in the carpet and breaking needles and spending way more money on fabric than you should. lol. BUT! Sometimes you'll end up with something you really like (and are willing to show in public!) It just takes patience and practice. You'll have so much fun! Do you remember the Christmas that I made you all pj's and matching ones for your babies? Had a blast and you will too! By the looks of it, you're on the right track. Love the photos of our precious girl :) Love you sweetie! Be there soon!
How fun!!! I love to sew...but also have no idea what I'm doing...but it sure is fun!!
Awe! I think your "gathered pleats" look amazing!!! I want to learn to sew so badly I can taste it...hehehe! My mom and grandma sew and I never really had a desire to learn until about 2 years ago....I bought myself a machine for my birthday and have been intimidated of it ever since...hehehe....the only thing I have made is a cover for the machine! Ha!!!!
Have fun with your mom and that sweet new machine!!
And thanks for the blog visit and comments;)

I need a lesson too! I got one as a gift and it is still.in.the.box! meep! Your daughter is so sweet :)
That is so cute . . . definitely not a fail. I'm a little bit jealous because that looks like a great machine. And you are right, you sew really straight - much straighter than me for sure!
